Chaikin Money Flow: A Beginner's Guide

Welcome to the world of cryptocurrency tradingThis guide will explain a useful tool called the Chaikin Money Flow (CMF). Don't worry if you're brand new to this – we'll break it down step-by-step. The CMF helps traders understand if money is flowing *into* or *out of* a cryptocurrency. Understanding this flow can give you clues about potential price movements. We'll cover what it is, how to calculate it (don't worry, your trading platform does this for you!), and how to use it in your trading strategy. This guide assumes you have a basic understanding of Cryptocurrency and Trading.

What is Chaikin Money Flow?

Imagine a bathtub. The price of a cryptocurrency is like the water level. Money flowing *into* the cryptocurrency is like the tap being turned on, filling the tub. Money flowing *out* is like the drain being opened, emptying the tub.

The Chaikin Money Flow indicator tries to measure this “flow” of money. It does this by combining price and volume. Volume is simply how much of a cryptocurrency is being traded during a specific period. High volume usually means lots of people are trading, and low volume means fewer people are involved.

The CMF is an oscillator, which means it fluctuates above and below a central line (usually zero).
